James F. Wheeler

James Frances Wheeler, age 86 of Oshkosh, passed away at Eden Meadows on Friday, May 26, 2023. He was born in Dubuque, IA on May 3, 1937, the son of Dr. Francis and Elsa Wheeler. He served in the United States Army National Guard, received a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, taught high school English in Neenah, and owned/operated Caring Connections, an eldercare company in Oshkosh.

He is survived by sons Daniel (Grace Park) Wheeler, Jeffrey (Leigh Gilman) Wheeler, and Matthew Wheeler; grandchildren Owen Wheeler, Aaron Wheeler and Margot Wheeler; nieces Kathy Wheeler and Gina Topper; former wife Carlene Flaherty, and loving companion Vicky Springborn.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Tom Wheeler (Laura), their son Michael, and dear aunt Clara Dougherty and her sisters, who took the place of "mother" after Elsa died.

Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal services. The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful care Jim received in the end from the Green House at Eden Meadows Rehabilitation Suites, as well as Aurora Hospice.

Finally, it was a great comfort for Jim to receive weekly communion calls from Saint Raphael Catholic Church. Any memorials may be sent to St. Raphael Catholic Church in Oshkosh or Parkinson’s Foundation.
