Jeanie Marie Burns

Jeanne Burns, 86, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 19, 2026.

Jeanne was born to Leon and Aloise Santy and raised on a farm with her three brothers. Her strong work ethic began early and continued throughout her life. She devoted more than 50 years to nursing at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, now Ascension Mercy Hospital, caring for countless patients and serving her community with compassion.

On July 28, 1962, Jeanne married the love of her life, Gerald "Gerry" Burns. After 63 years of marriage, she will now be reunited with her beloved husband, who preceded her in death in June of this year.

Jeanne was known for her generous heart and for always finding ways to care for others. Whether cooking, baking, sewing, shopping, or simply lending a hand, she made people feel loved and supported. Her homemade meals, apple pies, apple crisp, raspberry jam, and produce from Gerry's garden were shared often with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

Jeanne leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, generosity, and service that will continue through the family she cherished.

She is survived by her children, Todd (Ann Marie) Burns of Oshkosh, April Burns of Oshkosh, and Jonathan (Melinda) Burns of Manitowoc; grandchildren, Gabrielle (Kurt) Jacobs, Hope Burns, Ryan Burns, Nicholas Burns, and Emily (Michael) Lemmens; great-granddaughter, Hadley Jacobs; brothers, Larry Santy and Randy (Julie) Santy; sister-in-law, Sandra Santy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; brother, Jerome Santy; and parents, Leon and Aloise Santy.

A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held September 23, 2026, at St. Raphael's Church in Oshkosh. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with Mass to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Raphael's the Archangel Catholic Church located at 830 South Westhaven Drive in Jeanne's memory.
