Jerrilyn “Jerri” Joy Schmidt, age 64 of Oshkosh, was called by name to the gates of Heaven on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born on August 2, 1959 to the late Duane and Jackie (Brooks) Schmidt.
After graduating from Oshkosh West High School, Jerri attended Wartburg College in Iowa where she was a member of the board. She owned and operated J and J Tax and Accounting, and also worked at Diverse Options in Ripon for 23 years.
Jerri put her faith in God above everything else. Her love for her Savior was shown by the kindness and generosity she poured out to others. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and gained another faith family at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. Jerri was a long-time council member of First English Lutheran Church. Her heart was with Christian education; she served on the Lutheran Campus Ministry-Oshkosh board as well as the Crossways Camping Ministries board.
She loved being with family and friends, especially her niece, Christine. Jerri was a Disney fanatic who collected Mickey Mouse memorabilia and was known to have Cinderella’s Castle painted in her home.
Jerri is survived by her siblings, David (Cindy) Schmidt and Julianne Urbschat; niece and goddaughter, Christine (Jon David) Ramsey; godson, Quinn Dunn; sister-in-law, Diane Schmidt; special friends, Pastor Connie, Mary Ellen, Diane, Nancy and Marilyn. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jerri was preceded in death by her brother, Daryl Schmidt.
A memorial service for Jerri will be held at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 4:00 PM concelebrated by Rev. Jon Wills and Rev. Connie Weiss. Visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. A celebration of life will be held at the church immediately following the service. Inurnment will be held at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
To Jerri’s good friends and caretakers who she loved like family, especially Brandy Longfellow, thank you for all of the help that each of you provided daily throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
