John C. Gilgenbach, age 82, of Berlin, WI, passed away on September 6, 2025 at Julliet Manor.
John was born on July 15, 1943, the son of the late Raymond and Magdalen (Cermak) Gilgenbach, in Milwaukee.
He met Sharon Reilly at a toy factory they both worked at. He knew from the moment he met her that she was "the one". They were married on February 8th, 1964 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They celebrated 61 years of marriage this last February.
John was a hard worker, he really put his heart into work. He held leadership roles most of his working career. He was a flow foreman at Green Giant in Beaver Dam. He loved his hobby farm.
John was an amazing husband who loved and cherished his wife. He taught his children what being a good husband and father was.
He was true outdoorsman he thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. That love was passed down to his children.
He was also a competitive sportsman whether out on the green playing a game of golf, playing softball, card games or Yahtzee, he was in it to win it. He was a part of a bowling league in Fox Lake where he bowled alongside his wife, Sharon.
After John's retirement he enjoyed cooking, he became quite a good chef in his spare time.
He had excellent people skills. He was always the life at any gathering and welcomed everyone with kindness and respect. He had a lot of compassion for others.
John served in his community; he was a volunteer firefighter, he was a member of the knights of Columbus, he was a volunteer on the church committee and volunteered during church services.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Sharon Gilgenbach; sons, Dan (Lori) Gilgenbach and Andy Gilgenbach; daughter, Pam Feucht; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and his sister, Pat. He is preceded in death by his maternal parents (Raymond and Magdalen); brother, Ray; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Joanne Syvertson; and an infant great grandson, Ayden.
Per John's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service held at this time.
