Katherine “Kay” (Hanley) Witzke, 96, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 14, 2017. She was born September 22, 1920, in Newburgh, New York, to Albert and Roseann (Donohue) Hanley. Kay worked as a secretary for the US Air Force in Newburgh, NY, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. While in Virginia she met and married LeRoy Witzke on June 16, 1951. In 1952, together they moved to Oshkosh and had three daughters. Kay worked for the Oshkosh School District until her retirement. She enjoyed children, entertaining, dancing with Leroy, camping, traveling, dominos, bingo, was an avid Packer fan, going to the Elks Club and loved sitting on the beach. Kay was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. She will be remembered for her heart of gold and her devotion to her family.
Kay is survived by her three daughters: Jeanne (Charles) Swan, Linda (Terry) Monteith, and Ellen (Dennis) Statz; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Witzke, her parents and her three sisters, Mary, Anna, and Francis.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI 54901, with a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Inurnment of both Kay and LeRoy will take place immediately following the service.
