Kathleen A. Loos

Kathleen A (Hennel) Loos, age 72, passed away surrounded by beloved family members on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on June 25, 1954 in Oshkosh to Richard and Maybelle (Rasmussen) Hennell. Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Jeffrey Scott Loos, on October 28, 1975 at St. Josephat’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh.

In her adult life, she worked at the Chalice Restaurant as the very first noon waitress starting in 1977, and was employed by Loos Sheet Metal and Heating and L&B Bingo as a secretary, She primarily did daycare and homemaking because she sincerely enjoyed caring for her children, nieces and nephews. Of late, her genuine pleasure consisted of afternoon car rides around town with her husband and Leo (the dog).

Kathy and Jeff always loved being on their houseboat, “On the Loos.” They adored celebrating many vacations, events and family functions over the years. In fact, they loved it so much, they became the founders of “On the Loos Cruises “with their children, Jessica and Eric, to share with the Oshkosh public. It proved to be a great idea and success with Kathy’s input.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jeff; daughter, Jessica Johnson; son, Eric Loos; grandson Shepherd Johnson; and granddaughter, Esther Johnson. She is further survived by her siblings, Michael Hennell, Mary Hennell, and Paul (Michelle) Hennell; her siblings-in-law Michael Kees, Robert (Sandy Miresse) Loos, Howard (Kathy Poeschl) Loos, Ragnhild [Roni] Stopinski Loos, Christine Loos Schroeder, and Janet (Dennis) Loos Radig. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Kathy. Further, she is survived by her very best lifelong friend, Cindy (Lueders) George, who together with Kathy, got into and out of trouble. They would often sit on Cindy’s deck and reminisce about life and their past exploits.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Hennell Kees; and brothers-in-law Roger Loos, Thomas Loos, Gerald Loos, and Arthur Loos.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at the St. Jude’s the Apostle Catholic Parish (Sacred Heart site, 519 Knapp St, Oshkosh) on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 AM with Mass immediately following.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Aurora Medical Health Center for the care and compassion given to Kathy in her last days. A memorial has been established.
