Kathleen "Kathy" M. Slattery, age 83, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away on August 1, 2026 at her home.

Kathy was born on July18, 1943, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret (Schmidlkofer) Hackbarth. Kathy was a hard worker from an early age, a trait she developed while looking after her many younger siblings. As a young adult, she thoroughly enjoyed living and working in downtown Milwaukee. It was during her time there, working in her beloved position as a court reporter for the city, that she met her husband, Bob, who worked as an attorney.

Together, Kathy and Bob shared a lifelong passion for adventure and the outdoors. They loved traveling to international destinations like Mexico and Ireland, backpacking through the wilderness of Canada, and riding their motorcycles through the Smokies. In addition, Kathy filled her life with a wide variety of personal joys, including her family, pets, golf, flowers, and baby semi-trucks. She was known for riding motorcycles without a license, an adventurous streak that perfectly matched her independent nature.

Fiercely determined and unyielding in her core values, she held no patience for actions that hurt humankind. Kathy had a fast wit and a natural gift for humor, she brought laughter to every conversation.

Later in life, she also developed a deep love for living on the channel in the Big O. Kathy truly embraced every single moment and always lived life to the absolute fullest.

Kathy is survived by her stepdaughters, Ann (Dennis) Woznicki, Susan (Mark) Roessler, and Patricia Slattery; sisters, Karen (Doug) Bass, Nancy (Steve) Tomich, Marilyn (Jim) Lenz, Janet Hackbarth; brother, Richard Hackbarth; and brother-in-law, Dan Anderson. Nieces and nephews, Leah Larios, Rob Hackbarth, Dan Hackbarth, Jonathan Miller, Brian Miller, Dave Bass, Chris Lenz, Jared Lenz, Emily Hunt and Jenny Cutler; seven grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Slattery; stepson, Dan; sisters, Susan (Mike) Woelfel and Barbara Anderson.
