Larry E. Taylor

August 24, 1944 — February 19, 2022

Larry E. Taylor, 77, of Berlin, WI died peacefully surrounded by his sons and their wives. He had been in poor health for the last  four months. He was a fighter to the last, a character trait he demonstrated throughout his life.
Larry was born in 1944 in Illinois to Martha R. Taylor. He married Edna Armbruster on July 15, 1966 and traveled to the west coast to settle in California and start a new life. They started a family and began to settle in. While the move to California was bold, the desire to  be close to extended family proved to be a very powerful force. Larry moved his family back to Oshkosh. He found not just a job, but a career as a sausage maker. A skill that he shared with family and friends even after retirement. It wasn’t unusual to have the entire family (and friends) to make sausages--of course brats were made--this is  Wisconsin!
Larry and his soulmate of 50 years eventually  retired in Berlin WI. Those who knew Larry will remember his affection for people and his ability to talk and relate to anyone. The people who know him best, will remember those quirky, perhaps eccentric, qualities that best defined him. There was an endearing simplicity to his personality too. He was a generous spirit and there was nothing he would not do to help his friends and family.
While in Berlin, he forged many great friendships. Among them Joe, Bud (he affectionately called Pa), Bill, & Jerry. His lifelong friend “Butch” preceded him in death, and Don was a close friend as well. He forged a special relationship with his brother-in-law Bill & his wife Linda. They were frequent travel companions with Larry & Edna as they visited many spots around the globe. His grandchildren occupied a special place in his heart. He would never forget to bring them  ice cream on every visit.
He was an avid country music fan, with a particular focus on the original country of the 1960’s & 70’s. He also embraced new country  artists and was a season ticket holder to Country USA for  many years. Those closest to Larry knew his dedication to driving. He logged 90,000 miles in the last 3 years of his life-a mere fraction of his total mileage. RIP Pops!! There is a glass of Glenlivet on the other side.
Larry was preceded in death by his true love Edna. He is survived by Sons Gene(Marcia) of Muskego WI, and Bill Taylor(Krissy) of Oak Creek WI, Brother-in-law Bill(Linda) of Neshkoro WI, Sister Dorothy(Dave) of Portage, grandchildren Jack and Alex Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his Mom Martha, & Sister Beverly(Don).
There is no scheduled service, and a private   memorial has been planned. To celebrate Larry’s life make a toast & tip a glass of your favorite beverage with the ones you love.
