Lawrence C. Mehlberg

January 22, 1918 — May 28, 2016

Lawrence C. MehlbergAt age 98 and after a fulfilling life, Lawrence passed away into his Lords arms on May 28, 2016. He was born on January 22, 1918, the only child of the late Louis and Lydia Mehlberg. Lawrence was a successful farmer who farmed over 200 acres in crops and livestock. As time permitted, Lawrence visited every state except Hawaii. He especially enjoyed his golf adventure at Myrtle Beach and his trip to Alaska. Lawrence was an avid golfer and bowler and continued those activities until he was 97. After a lifetime of bachelorhood, at age 80 Lawrence fell in love and married the former Constance Schwerin, who was then 78. They shared fourteen years of fun times until her passing in 2012. The marriage gave Lawrence the family he had long wished for and he tremendously enjoyed family celebrations, especially if it meant he got a present! He was a faithful member of Martin Luther Church for over 65 years, giving generously to church projects. He is survived by three step-daughters and spouses: Micheele (James) Krueger, Pequitte Schwerin (John Enzmann), Brenda (Robert) Keller; 7 grandchildren: Keith (Jean) Krueger, Quint (Trudy) Krueger, Bradley (Kelly) Krueger, Ryan (Debbie) Krueger, Eric (Laura) Johnson, MaryBeth (Matt) Bayens, and Todd (Linda) Keller; 13 great-grandchildren: Kyle (Sara), Kimberly (Ryan), Alyssa (Tyler), Nathaniel, Kittrick (Josh), Krysta, Tyson, Sydney, Marcus, Hannah, Fletcher, Jennifer, and Cassandra; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and one expected.
