Lawrence M. Gallert, Age 93, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at his home. He was the oldest child born to the late William and Hazel (Anklam) Gallert on March 6, 1933 in Green Lake County. When he was four yeas old, his family moved to the Pickett area. Lawrence attended Outlet School and graduated from Omro High School. Shortly after high school, he started working for Page Family Farms near Ripon. That is where he learned to enjoy farming. It was hard work, but Lawrence loved watching the plants grow to their maturity. That is how he spent his last days, looking out the nig picture window, gazing at the fields filled with ripe corn and soybeans. Members of the Page family were his friends to the end.
In 1965, Lawrence married Shirley Hoffman and started working at Brickham Stamping Company as a punch press operator. He worked there until his retirement in 2000. His love for the land and what it could produce never left him. Lawrence was very excited when he purchased his first 80 acres. It meant working inside during the day and farming in the evening and weekend; but to Lawrence it was worth it.
Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, dancing to polka and waltz music, and in his later years, golfing. Lawrence also developed a close, cherished, relationship with his great-nephew, Dylan Hielke after his retirement.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 61 years; a brother-in-law, Robert Hoffman; nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Margaret) Gallert; sister, Gloria (Warren) Bohn; and a niece, Debbie.
A special thanks to Sherry Muskavitch, Dawn Anklam, Kayla Clemons, and Dylan Hielke; who interrupted their busy schedules to take Lawrence to appointments, pick up pills, and run errands for him.
A funeral service for Lawrence will be held at Lake View Memorial Park on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 2PM. A visitation will take place from 1PM until the service with an entombment to follow.
A memorial is being established.
