Lawrence L. Lowther

July 7, 1937 — June 22, 2023

It is with much sadness our family mourns the loss but celebrates the life of Lawrence “Larry” Lyle Lowther. Larry passed away peacefully June 22, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI. Larry was born July 7, 1937, on a farm in Bevent, WI in Marathon County to John Lowther and Clara Oprzendek.

In 1956 Larry enlisted in the US Army. Following training Larry was dispatched to the Seneca Army Depot Arms and Ammunition Base in Seneca, NY. Larry was a PFC MP guard at the base. Larry was asked to walk the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; he became lifelong friends with several men in service with him.

Upon returning to Oshkosh from New York, Larry met the love of his life, June Ann (Stieben). Larry and June married on September 10, 1960, and have been together ever since, over 62 years. Larry worked at Washington Street Plant in Menasha, WI (originally American Can) 42 years as a pressman (printer).

Larry enjoyed musky fishing “up north” at his family cottage in northern Wisconsin and traveling.

Larry is survived by his wife, June; his two sons, Mark Lowther (Nicole Frank), and Matthew (Audry) Lowther, both of Oshkosh; and his grandchildren, Jacob Lowther, Kaelyn Lowther, Konner Lowther, and Luke Lowther. His survivors include brother, Paul Lowther and sister-in-law, Sue Lowther as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara; son, Fred Lowther; brothers, Raymond Lowther, John Lowther II, and Leo Lowther as well as his sister, Elizabeth Lowther.

A service for Larry will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr) on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 1PM. A time of visitation will be held from noon until the time of service. A burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park at a later date.
