Lee D. Callies, age 83 of Greenville, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Lee was born in Wauwatosa, WI on July 17th, 1942, to Melvin and Irene Callies.

Lee grew up in Oshkosh and attended Oshkosh High School. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the US Army were he proudly served his country. Upon returning from his time in the Army, Lee worked at Dad’s Bottling Company as a delivery driver for the company for many years. Lee was united in marriage on November 20, 1969 to his wife Karen of 54 years where they resided in Menasha before moving to Oshkosh.

Lee retired from the Oshkosh Area School District in 2002 after 30 years of service. He served in multiple roles within the maintenance department. He was known by the students for his love of Butterfinger candy bars and his fun sense of humor. He was a favorite to many teachers alike and enjoyed “Happy Hour” after the long school days.

In his free time, Lee enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, watching whatever sports his kids were involved in, driving around his grandkids on the lawn mower, taking them to get ice cream, as well as just spending time with them. He also made sure mother nature’s creatures were well fed. He always found a project that involved being in the garage or outside. He was also actively involved with Pheasants Forever, Walleye’s for Tomorrow, and Otter Street Fishing Club.

Lee is survived by his wife, Karen of 54 years, one son Jon (Shannon) Callies of Greenville, daughter Kristin (Ryan) O’Connor of Greenville and seven grandchildren: Brooke, Luke, Gregg, Grace, William, Brynn, and Adeline. He is also survived by a brother Van (Margaret) Callies of Appleton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Irene, son, Jay, and brothers: Ned and Roy Callies.

A visitation for Lee will be held Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, from 10-11 am at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel(2786 Algoma Blvd. Oshkosh, Wi.) with a service to begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Kline officiating.

The Callies Family would like to especially thank the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their compassionate care and service during Lee’s final hours. Thank you to the staff at Living Tree Estates for their ongoing care and support.
