LeRoy James Henke, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday May 14th, 2024. He was born on April 25th, 1951 in Oshkosh, a son of Walter and Martha Baird Henke. On February 1st, 1974 he married Donna Carroll in Oshkosh.
LeRoy was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne and served in Vietnam as a gunner on a Chinook helicopter. After returning from Vietnam, he served in the National Guard for 17 years. He retired from Bemis Corp where he worked for many years. Over his lifetime, he was a Cub Scout Leader, he coached Oshkosh Youth Baseball, and enjoyed managing his "Ballbusters" Golf League. He played softball for many years, enjoyed birdwatching, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, son Tim (Milada) Henke, four grandchildren Zachary, Asha, Rosa, and Coulter, his mother Martha Wolf, two brothers Arnold "Butch" (Jacque) Henke, Robert
"Bob" Henke, sister Sandy (Dean) Weich, an aunt Carol Zweck, cousin Gary Nowak, sisters and brothers-in-law Laura and Dennis Schmidt, Dave and Becky Carroll, Sue and Bob Haney, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter Henke, sister Nancy Miller, and sister-in-law Alice Henke.
Visitation for LeRoy will be held on Thursday May 23rd, 2024 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside 100 Lake Pointe Drive in Oshkosh from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held thereafter. At his final resting place, a military burial service will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.
