Lois V. Perdue

Lois Virginia Johns Perdue, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born in Horicon, WI on July 19, 1937, to William and Laura Zimmerman Johns. She was baptized at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Horicon. Her life was well lived. She was loved deeply and will be missed.

Lois had many chapters in her life, from growing up on a dairy farm to becoming a mother at a young age, living “up north,” playing drums in a country band and finding the love of her life in her later years. A vibrant faith, love for family, ability to form community and a spirit that enabled her to “do what needed to be done” were the common themes of each chapter of her life. She always had a home church, was faithful at worship, and actively involved as her health allowed. She remained close to her sister, June, and brother “Charlie” throughout their lives. Lois was a caregiver, both in profession as a nurses’ aid and in life. She faced many challenges in her life which were overcome by a “farmgirl work ethic”, a “mother hen” love, a supportive community, and deep trust that “the Lord will provide.”

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husbands, Roger Canniff, Jerry Nusberger and Orval Perdue. She is survived by her four children, Tim (Mary) Canniff-Kuhn, Gregg (Linda) Canniff, Lynn (John) Roskos and Shari (Mike) Steer, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly. She was immensely proud of all her children and grandchildren. Lois was the matriarch of a full family tree of love.

A service to celebrate Lois’ life and God’s promises is planned for Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W 9th Avenue, Oshkosh, WI 54902. The family will receive friends at a light luncheon after the service. Gifts and memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.

I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. 2 Timothy 1:3-5
