Lois Mae Nina (Ament) Welk, age 88 of Oshkosh, passed away at Edenbrook of Oshkosh on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was born on May 16, 1935, to the late Roman and Esther (Borchardt) Ament in the family farmhouse in Merrill WI.

Lois graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1953. Lois started her career as secretary at Anson & Gilkey Sash and Door Co. She also worked as a woman’s physical education instructor in Merrill. She was united in marriage to William L Welk on August 6, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill WI. Lois was a co-owner of the Merrill Quality Beverage Co. The family moved to Kenosha in 1965, and Lois began her career working at Wonder Bread- Hostess.  In 1978, the family relocated to Oshkosh. Lois continued her career with Wonder Bread, retiring after 27 years as manager for the thrift stores.

Lois enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and sewing. She sewed over 400 quilts for family and church missions. She also crafted close to 100 braided wool rugs. She was very involved in the church choirs in Merrill, Kenosha and Oshkosh. Lois was an active member of the Dorcas Society at church. She also was the president of the Kenosha Lioness Club.

Lois is survived by her husband of almost 69 years, William L Welk; children, Karen (Dennis) Puckett, Marjorie (Leonard) Lambert, Gerald (Ellen) Welk and Brian (Debra) Welk; grandchildren, Carly (Kadeem Liggens) Jackson, Keith (Jeni Munns) Puckett, Andrew (Jamie) Puckett, and Hannah (Adam) Pulda, Casey Welk, Jordan (Morgan) Welk, Ethan (Sarah) Welk; great-grandchildren, Madysen, Brianna, Brayden, Logan, Avery Puckett, Julian Romero, Kian Swift and Kadeem Swift Jr and Jadon Pulda; sisters, Jean Zimbal and Florence Mulvihill. She is further survived by daughter-in-law, Jill Welk, son-in-law, Mickey Jackson as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Linda Jackson and Gregory Welk; grandchildren, Russell Jackson; great-grandchild, Rylan Puckett; brothers Roman (Evie) Ament and Jack (Darlene) Ament.

A funeral service for Lois will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 370 Bowen St Oshkosh on Thursday, May 9th at 12:00 with Rev. Marvin Ahlborn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A light lunch will follow. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, around 3:00 pm.
