Lucy L. Lund, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on May 4, 1933, in Oshkosh to the late Elmer and Alice (Wood) Johns. Lucy was united in marriage to Paul Lund on June 5, 1959 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Lucy was an extraordinary woman, whose talents knew no bounds. Known for her expert sewing skills, she dedicated countless hours to creating beautiful clothes for her children, each stitch infused with love and care. Her crafty nature extended beyond the sewing machine, as she excelled in various arts and crafts projects. She had a magical touch when it came to staining wood, and her skilled hands helped her children with their own homes, leaving a lasting legacy in the finished pieces.
A true green thumb, Lucy found solace and joy in her garden. Flowers and vegetables flourished under her loving care, reflecting her nurturing spirit. With roots deeply entrenched in farm life, Lucy's upbringing on the family farm instilled in her a deep appreciation for hard work and the mastery of operating tractors and farm equipment.
At the age of 16, Lucy made a profound decision to be baptized, embracing her faith with unwavering devotion. This deep spiritual connection guided her throughout her life, providing her with unwavering strength and guiding her actions toward kindness and compassion.
Lucy's love for her friends was immeasurable, as she found solace and joy in spending time with them. Every week, she would gather with a treasured group of friends at McDonald's or Dairy Queen, where they would sit for hours, engrossed in heartfelt conversations, sharing tales of love, laughter, and the beauty of their lives.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Paul Lund; daughters: Lori (Bob) Reider, Nancy (Ron) Holt; grandchildren: Maggie (Josh) Steffens, Nikki (Alex) Raisleger, Derrick (Petra) Heise, Dillon Heise; and great grandchildren: Thomas Steffens, Elena Steffens, Harper Raisleger. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Alice Johns; infant twin brother, Edward Johns; sister, Sally (Al) Merrill; and sister-in-law, Delores (Howard) Streblow.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Evergreen Retirement Community, 1130 N Westfield St, Oshkosh.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community for the care and love that was given to Lucy over the past 10 years and the Aurora ICU and second floor nurses for the loving care that was given to her during her last few days.
