Lynn Norbert Resop

Lynn N. “Butch” Resop, aged 82, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at his home. Born on July 26, 1944, in Oshkosh, he was the son of the late Norbert Resop and Ruth Berrell Resop Vogelin.

On May 1, 1969, he married Sandra Postl in Oshkosh, beginning a lifelong journey together that was sadly cut short when she preceded him in death in March of 1995. Later, in May 2009, Lynn married Natalie Alexander, who shared his time and love of dogs with him, until her passing in January 2023.

Butch proudly served his country as a dedicated veteran of the United States Army, embodying commitment and honor. After his service, he devoted many years to working as a skilled telephone lineman, contributing to the connectivity and growth of his community.

Above all, Lynn was a remarkably supportive father to his children, Robin and Ross. As they grew up, he was always standing by them, supporting their passions and serving as their biggest fan. Whether he was cheering them on at RC car racing and BMX racing tracks, or supporting them through years of horse showing, he was always deeply involved in their lives. Through his encouragement and everyday example, he passed on the vital character traits of hard work, dedication, and discipline—instilling a work ethic and focus that became a proud and lasting legacy in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Cars of all kinds also captured Lynn’s heart — from the roar of a classic muscle car to the intricate details of small collectibles. He found joy in attending car shows, marveling at the craftsmanship and history of classic automobiles. A member of the Central Wisconsin Auto Collectors, his enthusiasm extended into his extensive Hot Wheels collection, a treasure trove that reflected his lifelong love of cars. Additionally, Lynn’s affection for his dogs was well known among family and friends, sharing several adopted Great Danes with Natalie and even having a couple Great Danes that were show dogs.

In a special highlight for his 80th birthday, Lynn was honored to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight during the EAA AirVenture event in 2024. This was very memorable experience recognizing his service and spirit.

Lynn leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward: his son Ross (Becky) Resop, his daughter Robin (Carl) Sternhagen, and two treasured grandchildren, Halia Sternhagen and Griffin Resop. He is also survived by his sisters, Joni Balgie and Ruthann Vogelin, along with several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.

He was preceded in death not only by his beloved wives, Sandra and Natalie, but also by two brothers, James Vogelin and Tom Vogelin, a sister Mary Vogelin, his parents Norbert Resop, Ruth Berrell Resop Vogelin, his in-laws Gertrude Ternes Postl and Douglas Postl, as well as many other relatives who meant a great deal to him.

Funeral services to honor Lynn “Butch” Resop’s life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at noon at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside (402 Waugoo Ave, Oshkosh, WI). Visitation will be welcomed on the same day beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service, allowing friends, family, and community members to pay their respects and share in remembering a remarkable life.

A memorial has been established in his name, reflecting the love and respect held for him by all who knew him.
