Oshkosh

Maj (ret.) Arthur A. Loos, aged 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1951 in Oshkosh to Emil and Bernette (Matsche) Loos.

Art graduated from Lourdes High School in 1969 and achieved a secondary degree in military science for his army career. He married his high school sweetheart, Roni (Stopinski), on July 10, 1971 at Sacred Heart Parish in Oshkosh.

Art served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for 29 years, beginning his career at 1157th Transportation Co as a private, eventually commanding the unit as captain. He retired as a major after serving as the Family Liaison Officer for the 64th RAOC during Desert Storm. As an enlisted man, he served on the state rifle team for many years.

He was a member of the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, serving as an officer and chorus manager of that organization.

Arthur was an active member of First English Lutheran Church serving in many roles. He taught Sunday School, served on the council, organized many social and spiritual events, led Bible studies, and mostly loved to worship his Lord with other believers there. He volunteered as the soccer coach for Valley Christian School.

He was an upholsterer by trade. He worked for Buckstaff Co, KC Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, and owned his own shop, Konrad Interiors. He also managed the Hour Bar and Restaurant in his younger years as he was a hospitable man and great cook. After retirement, he and his wife travelled extensively throughout the US and Europe. Art also acquired his Coast Guard Captain’s License to help run On The Loos Cruises with his brother, Jeff. Art found great joy in sailing as well.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roger Loos, Thomas Loos, and Gerald Loos; his brothers-in-law Hans Peter and Robert Stopinski; their wives, Cynthia (Loos) and Sharon (Hupe). He is survived by his wife, Ragnhild (Roni); sons Matthew (Laura), Michael (Jenna), and Martyn (Jess); grandchildren: Ian, Jared, Katrina, Kaia, Halle, Brynn, Alexandria, and Addison. He is further survived by his siblings; Robert (Sandy) Loos; Howard (Kathy) Loos; Christine Schroeder; Jeffrey (Kathy) Loos; Janet (Dennis) Radig; his sister-in-law Linda (Bauer) Stopinski; and many nieces and nephews.

We grieve and rejoice in the life of Arthur Alan Loos who was a gentle man and prioritized other people before he tended to his own needs. He cared deeply for the souls and spirits of anyone he loved, and strived to make heaven crowded. “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.” Job 1:21.
