Marie O. Misterek (nee Winter), 103, was born on January 6, 1914 in East Bloomfield, WI. She passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Park View Health Center. Marie (Honey) was the youngest daughter of Louis and Marie Prellwitz Winter. After growing up on the Winter farm near Tustin, she moved to Oshkosh as a young lady where she later met Gustave (Gus) Misterek and they were married on August 21, 1937. They settled near Oshkosh and raised a family of five children in their home on Yahootee Creek at the edge of Lake Winnebago. Marie was a wonderful homemaker and cared for her children through their early school years and beyond. Later she worked for many years at Lenox Candle in Oshkosh. She is remembered by all for her beautiful flower gardens and delicious cooking. As an example, her apple pie was exceptional and famous among family even though there was no known recipe to be given to inquiring friends and relatives. Marie enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends as well. She was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She and her family were witness of the early growth of the congregation from its beginning on Jackson Drive to its current location on Algoma Blvd. Marie is survived by her sister, Ruth Stryzewski 104 years old, Oshkosh; three daughters, Sheri Bobinski, Menomonee Falls, WI.; Nancy Brunton, Washington, Ill.; Linda Regal, Allbuquerque, N.M.; one son, David (Christine) Misterek; eighteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband; one daughter, Donna Slattery; four brothers, Rev. Louis (Frances) Winter, William (Rose) Winter, Rev. Albert (Mildred) Winter, and Alvin (Hilma) Winter; and three sisters: Emma (Edward) Ultang, Elsie (Arthur) Bahr and Lily (John) Peters.A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverends Jeffrey Berg and Nathan Ericson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until 11am. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of the flowers a memorial has been established.
