Marilyn Janice (Novotny) Cornell passed away on June 23, 2026.

Marilyn, was born in Oshkosh, May 19, 1929. She was raised in a loving home, surrounded by her mother, Rose Novotny, as well as aunts and uncles and her grandparents. During her youth, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She graduated from Oshkosh High School with the class of 1947.

It was in high school that she met her life-long sweetheart, Robert J. Corell They married on September 16, 1950. Marilyn was employed by the Schmitt Abstract and Title Company until she switched careers to take care of their five children. She later returned to Schmitt Abstract until her retirement.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Rose and Russell Fisher, her husband of 70 years, Robert Cornell and her son Jeffrey Cornell.

She is survived by 4 children: Timothy (Paula) of Oshkosh; Thomas (Lou Ann); Susan (Kevin) Ohl of Aurora, IL: and Steven (Dina) of Oshkosh.

Other survivors include 8 grandchildren: Becky (Joe) Meissner, Paul Cornell, Brian Cornell; Sara (Mike) McDonald; Stephan Cornell and Chloe Cornell, all of Oshkosh; Alison Ohl of Aurora, IL; and Nicholas (Ashley) Ohl of St, Louis, MO. She also leaves behind 6 great-granddaughters: Emma and Greta Meissner, Lydia and Clarity McDonald; and Harper and London Cornell, all of Oshkosh. Marilyn is further survived by her sister-in-law Karen (Al) Neubauer, brother-in-law Reginald Jennerjohn and their families, and a cousin Don (Liz) Lehmann.

Marilyn loved socializing, especially with her long-time lady friends from high school known as “The Club." They met monthly for over 50 years, rotating houses and hostess duties. After retirement, she also met every 2°d Tuesday with her breakfast group of fellow students from Sacred Heart grade school

After retirement, Marilyn and Bob spent their winters in Scottsdale, AZ, making new friends from all over the country. Marilyn and Bob loved to travel and they made four visits to Hawaii, in addition to traveling to Alaska, Europe and Australia. They enjoyed many cruises on Princess Cruise Lines. Marilyn loved music and stage performances. She and Bob were regular attendees at the Weidner Center in Green Bay, the PAC in Appleton and the Fireside in Fort Atkinson. They were long time supporters of and season ticket holders at the Grand Opera House in Oshkosh

Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Eden Vista for the compassionate and patient care they provided to Marilyn over the last 7 years, as well as to Preceptor Hospice for their comfort in her last days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Jude (Sacred Heart site), 519 Knapp St, Oshkosh, WI 54902, on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 am following visitation at 10:00 am at the church. Entombment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Parish or Sacred Heart Cemetery, through the office of St Jude at 1025 W. 5th Avenue, Oshkosh, WI, 54902.
