Marilyn J. Kraus, age 95, of Oshkosh, passed away at Evergreen Retirement Community on July 23, 2025. She was born March 7, 1930, in Fond du Lac, to the late Rudolph and Marion (Icks) Lange. Marilyn married Lyle Kraus in Fond du Lac on September 18, 1953. They shared 65 years together and enjoyed many things, including traveling and Polka dancing.
Marilyn found immense joy in her cherished cabin up north, a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of her late husband, Lyle. It was here that she fostered countless memories with family and friends, surrounded by the beauty of nature that she held dear.
A gifted artisan, Marilyn expressed her creativity through her many talents as a quilter, Hardanger embroidery artist, and knitter. Her heart was woven into every stitch, and her legacy includes over 100 handmade newborn hats lovingly crafted and donated to local hospitals, ensuring that her warmth would touch the lives of many. Additionally, Marilyn embraced the beauty of rosemaling, creating vibrant pieces that reflected her artistic spirit.
Marilyn is survived by her son, David (Nancy) Kraus; granddaughters: Nicole (Joshua) Fenner, Tabitha (Jon) Kraus and Jennifer (Kyle) Villwock; great grandchildren: Rylan Kraus, Addilyn and Grace Fenner, and Landyn Villwock; sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Lange; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rudolph and Marion Lange, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Kraus; sons, Steven and Gary Kraus; sisters, Judy (Dale) Kleineschay; father- and-mother-in-law, Adolph and Edna Kraus; in-laws: Elaine (Richard), Ione (Ted), Sylvia (Lester), Merle (George) Kontos and Glen (Eleanor) Kraus.
Per Marilyn’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside, 402 Waugoo Avenue. Interment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s name would be appreciated to Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
