Marilyn Ring

August 14, 1937 — June 26, 2025

Marilyn R. Ring, age 87 of North Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at her home with her family at her side after a 2½ year battle with cancer. She was born on August 14, 1937, in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Roland and Ruth (Brukardt) Gruendemann. She was baptized at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Powers, Michigan and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite. She graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1955. On June 15, 1957, officiated by her uncle Rev. Harvey Kahrs, she married Donald Ring at Zion Lutheran Church in Van Dyne.

After graduation and until her marriage, she was employed as a private secretary for Ken Smith Insurance, Fond du Lac. She was a homemaker and while her children attended high school, she was an assistant for Eggert Insurance, Fond du Lac. She and Don also owned and ran Evergreen Farm and Nursery in the Town of Blackwolf. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She used those musical talents as an organist and choir member for Zion Lutheran church in Van Dyne, both in her teens and in retirement. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed classical music, genealogy, sewing and flea markets.

She is survived by her three children, Suzanne (Tom) Baker, Cheryl (Bill) Cearns, Jeffrey Ring; five grandchildren Amber (Andy) Miller, Tyler (Miracle) Dukelow, Alexander (Hannah) Dukelow, Maxwell (Megan) Dukelow, Nicollette (Joe) Mathweg; thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers David (Kay), Roger (Kay) and Donald (Janet) Gruendemann; one brother-in law Bob (Nancy) Ring and two sisters in law, Jane Verhagen and Karen Pelot.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 28, 2020; her parents and three infant great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Marilyn will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1206 Ontario Street, Oshkosh, on Monday, July 7th at 11:00 am, officiated by Reverand Paul Lidtke. Visitation is from 9:30 am until the time of service. A burial will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Black Wolf.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Hearly and Dr. Meghan Boll from the Michael Wachtel Cancer Center and the caring hospice nurses and aide.

In lieu of flowers or a tree planted, memorials can be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Oshkosh or Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Fond du Lac.
