Marvin Summerville

Marvin Francis Summerville Sr., 89, of Oshkosh passed away February 27, 2007. He was born Oct. 17, 1917 in Morris, IL the son of Clarence and Mary Whitwirth Summerville. His first marriage was to Lillian Browell in 1936. He remarried to Christabelle Nelson in Wausau, WI on Jan. 20, 1951. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2004. Marvin owned and operated Marvs Refrigeration for many years, often designing as well as installing freezing and air conditioning units. He was a former member of the Oshkosh Boat Club and the Elks Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. When Marvin retired from refrigeration, he became the superintendent for the apartment complex where he and Christabelle lived. He enjoyed numerous fishing trips to Canada, as well as the many boating jaunts with the boat club on Wisconsins waterways. He is survived by his son, Marvin Jr. (Verna) Summerville of Oshkosh; his daughter, Dixie Summerville of Oshkosh; a step-daughter, Carol (James) Crahen of Oshkosh; a step-son, Robert (Nancy) Nelson of Oshkosh; his sister, Mildred Kern of Morris, IL; a brother-in-law, Fred Kern; ten grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a great-great-grandson; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a younger son, Robert D. Summerville of Homer, AK; a sister, Ruth Kern of Il; a step-son, Raymond (Jane) Nelson of Bemijdi, MN; and both a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson. A memorial service for Marvin will be held Wednesday March 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-West, Rev. Joel Olsen officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
