Nathaniel "Nate" W. Warner Sr.

June 2, 1946 — September 9, 2023

Nathaniel “Nate” W. Warner Sr. age 77, passed away at Willow Dale Health Services of New Holstein on Saturday, September 9, 2023. He was born in Oshkosh on June 2, 1946 to the late William and Edythe (Haase) Warner.

Nate was the owner and operator of Nate’s One More tavern. It might have been a business but it was also a place where people grew up. Nate, by example alone, taught his children that people actually came to his bar for him, not just the business. He possessed a willpower that blew our minds. His family appreciates the strong work ethic and stamina that he modeled for them. The only fault he had was he couldn't say no.

"Better call Smitty see where the fish are." This started many mornings for his boys because they all knew Dad's favorite pastime was wetting a line. From boating on the weekends, the yearly Maiden Voyage, and the times throughout the summer when distant sisters and family next door had fun together on the water, there was seldom a dull moment. We appreciate everything he taught us.

Nate will be remembered as one of Santa Claus’ loyal elves. He often would visit his sister and brother- in law’s daycare dressed as Old Saint Nick, surprising and delighting the children. He taught his own children kindness through their yearly Christmas visits to resident homes of disabled children; bringing the magic of Season right to their homes. We will miss his big booming laugh, and “ho-ho-ho” that he perfected over the years.

Countless family and friends will remember him for his love of the water. You could rely on a boat ride and chorus of “ooo, aw, ooooohhhh” while out on Lake Winnebago during Fourth of July fireworks. An untold amount of people learned from Nate how to hook a worm, cast a rod, and tell the difference between a keeper and “throw it back”. He was the master of telling stories of the one that got away.

He is survived by his children: Jerilyn (John Honeycutt) Warner, Alesha (John) Hau, JR (Tonillia) Warner, James Warner, Jane (JD) Case and Shawnee Miller; grandchildren: Josh Jenner, Danielle DeMars, Travis Caldwell, Autumn, Alex Warner, Adarie Hau, Chase, Leona and Ryot Warner, Destiny Stockert, Jazzlyn Warner, Colby, Tanner and Taylor Case; great grandchildren: Arainna, Brooke, Colton and Declan Jenner and Jace DeMars; siblings: Walter (Mary Ellen) Mayo, Sylvia Beson, William (Nancy) Mayo, Douglas Warner (Sue King), Winnie (Larry) McPeake and Patricia Windle. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Dennis Beson.

A memorial service for Nate will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
