On Monday, August 2nd 2010, Nile E. "Nick" Gluth passed away comfortably at home while listening to his Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Cubs. Nile was born almost 88 yrs ago on September 7th 1922 a son of the late Paul and Martha (Luedtke) Gluth. He married Norma, his high school sweetheart in 1948. They shared 30 yrs together before going their separate ways. From 1942 -1948 Nile proudly served his country in WWII as a Radar Repairman for Airborne equipment. He successfully owned and operated Commercial Music Systems until almost age 70. With the birth of his first grandchild in 1986, Nile happily began his second childhood. Most weekends one of his grandchildren could be found with him enjoying a day at the water park, attending a ball game, hitting some golf balls, or just hanging out together. Mondays you could spot Nile in Neenah, supplying half the neighborhood with cookies, frozen dinners and Mac-n-Cheese. Thanks Grandpa, garlic shrimp will always make us smile! Those of us sharing his memories include his daughter Pam Swanson, his four grandchildren Brian, Becky, Jodi (Steffan Peterson) and Kristen (Ross Huff) along with two extra little blessings, his great grandchildren Avery Mae Huff and Joshua Anthony Robl. Nile was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, Ray and Lester Gluth and one sister, Norma Bowen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends, especially the 25th Street Crew. Visitation for Nile will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, August 6th 2010 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr. Oshkosh, WI). A service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nancy Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors. The family wishes to thank the staff of 2 South at Theda Clark as well as the Theda Care at Home Hospice Staff for their incredible kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Nile Gluth memorial fund.~ We will always feel your guiding hand on our shoulders and your laughter in our hearts. ~Fondly remembered, sadly missed.
