Norman Dittmer, 93, passed away Saturday, Feb 25, 2006. He was born in Oshkosh on Feb. 29, 1912 – a leap year baby. He was the last of 10 siblings. His sister, Lorraine, passed away just a couple of days earlier.He was preceded in death by Josephine, his wonderful wife of 45 years. Also going before him were a young grandson, Peter Prescott, a son-in-law, Mike Grippo, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Dittmer and a special friend, Garnet Hart.He will be missed by his children, Jacqueline Grippo, Richard, Ralph, Norma (Gene) Langlitz and Judith (George) Prescott. His 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren will miss his gentleness and humor. Everyone will greatly miss playing cards with Papa – especially great grandson, Quincy, who just learned to play cribbage.He worked at the Axle Rockwell Standard until his retirement. Besides playing cards with family and on a cribbage league with friends at Volps, Norm enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, travel and year round fishing on Lake Winnebago. He was blessed with a long life and was able to watch his kids and grandkids grow and prosper.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 7:00 PM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to the time of service.
