Oliver "Bud" J. Edwards Jr.

Oliver “Bud” J. Edwards Jr., passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born on July 5, 1923, in Berwyn, IL to Oliver J. Edwards, Sr. and Marie J. (Vanek) Edwards.


Bud graduated from Morton High School in Cicero, IL in 1941. He worked at Western Electric in Chicago, IL before being drafted in the US Army at age 19. Bud had a decorated military record; the European, African, Middle Eastern ribbon with four Bronze Campaign Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was with the 403rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion and served two years overseas from October 1943 through October 1945. Bud went to the Moler Barber College in Chicago. He barbered for 50 years, 44 of the years at 1011 Oregon Street in Oshkosh. Bud was united in marriage to Lorna Fuhs on August 30, 1952. They were married for 70 years.


Bud is survived by his children; daughter, Linda (Jim) Mollon and their son, Brady; daughter Karen (Steve) Ellingson and their son, Eric, and daughter, Kristin (Joe) Trongard great-grandchildren, Josephine, Mavis, Arthur and Vincent; son, James Edwards; daughter, Julie (Tim) Blume and their sons Nathan and Kevin, and daughter, Sarah; sister, Ruth Harber; brother-in-law, David (Jeanne) Fuhs. Bud is further survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna and his in-laws, Walter and Martha Fuhs.


Bud was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church and a current member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Bud was on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC in April 2013 for a memorable trip with fellow US Veterans.


Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park with military honors. Pastor Dean Desilet will preside over a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, a memorial to Gabriel’s Villa will be made in his honor.


We would like to thank the staff and nurses of Gabriel’s Villa in Oshkosh for all their care and compassion in the seven months Bud resided there, five of those months were with his wife Lorna of 70 years. You made them both feel so welcome.
