Richard L. Wahlgren, age 87, passed away on the evening of Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Ascension Mercy Medical. He was born to the late Victor and Carrie (Brennand) Wahlgren on August 9, 1936, in Oshkosh, WI.
Dick graduated in 1954 from Oshkosh High school and remained a lifelong resident. In 1998 he retired from Banta Publishing spending his winters in Green Valley, AZ. He enjoyed old westerns, crossword puzzles and especially his annual, week-long vacations with the entire family in Tomahawk, WI.
Dick was a great, award winning athlete and avid sports fan, from baseball, basketball, fast pitch softball, bowling, handball, racquetball to golf. In 1994 he was inducted into the Oshkosh Rec Dept. softball hall of fame. If Richard wasn’t playing the game he was watching.
Dick is survived by his significant other, Arline Tollard; daughter, Pamela (Kal) Spanbauer; granddaughter, Andrea Monteith; Arline’s children, Calvin Tollard, and Nicole (Jay) Schettle, and their children, Cole and Camden Schettle, and Kayla, Jessica, Valerie, and Calvin Tollard III. Dick is further survived by his sister, Sonja Barlow as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Robert (Lois) Wahlgren, Geraldine “Sis” (Joseph) Duffy, Marlene (Gerald “Sonny”) Polishinski, and brother-in-law Robert Barlow.
He will be dearly missed.
A private service was held by the family on September 13th at Lake View Memorial Park.
