Richard P. Peterson, of Orlando, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning of, February 13, 2024. He was born September 12, 1951 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Dick graduated from Lourdes High School in 1969. He served in the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Independence 1969-1973 and left with an Honorable Discharge. He was very proud to serve his nation.

After serving in the military, he received an associate degree from Fox Valley Technical Institute. He worked in the insurance industry as a Loss Control Representative and as an independent agent. In his retirement years, he enjoyed taking care of the yard, and feeding the birds and feral cats that came by. He also had some favorite cats indoors too.

Dick "El Ricardo" as his wife would call him is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joni (Thiele) Peterson "Juanita" as he would call her, his mother and father Barbara and Junior Peterson, his sister Sally (Larry) Christianson, his brother Jim Peterson, his aunt and uncle Susie and Robert Gunderson, and loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by a baby, sisters Susan and Jane, as well as his grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church-Daily Chapel, 5125 S Apopka Vineland Rd Orlando, FL 32819. A reception will be held at the church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Private burial will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Oshkosh.
