Robert D. Pfaffenroth

February 3, 1951 — January 25, 2024

Rob Pfaffenroth, 72, of Appleton, sadly passed away on Thursday, 25th, 2024 following a brief illness. He died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Rob was born on February 3rd, 1951 to David Pfaffenroth and Betty Jane Formiller. He spent his childhood in Winneconne, WI along with several years living in Atascadero, CA. He was a 1969 graduate from Winneconne High School. A natural athlete, Rob excelled in sports especially baseball and football. Upon graduation he spent his summer working in Sequoia National Forest, an experience he often fondly recounted.

Rob was drafted to the Army following his graduation. He was honored to be apart of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division. He served with honor and dedication, achieving the rank of Specialist (SP4). His service left a lasting mark, and he proudly wore the 82nd Airborne crest for the rest of his life, a symbol of his commitment and bravery.

He shared a great love for traveling, music, telling great stories and making people laugh. He enjoyed great meals with loved ones and cheering for his Green Bay Packers.

Above all, Rob's greatest pride was his family. His wife, daughters, stepchildren, and grandchildren were the center of his world. He shared with them his love, wisdom, and a zest for life that they will carry forward.

Rob is survived by his wife Leanne Pfaffenroth; daughters Megan (Mike) Mitchell, Jessica Pfaffenroth; stepchildren Kim (Adam) Schoettler, Eric (Stephanie) Ahrens, and his beloved grandchildren: Eva, Belle, Jax, and Kenzo; along with his siblings: Randy Pfaffenroth, Nancy (Richard) Sharratt, Tony Opperman, and Cindy (Kirk) Gruetzmacher.

Rob is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane (Formiller) Opperman, father David Pfaffenroth, step-father Tony Opperman, and brothers Jerry and Ricky Pfaffenroth.

Friends, family, and all those who loved him are invited to join us in honoring Rob's memory. A public viewing will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Point Drive, Oshkosh, WI starting at 11 am on February 4th. The funeral service and military honors will commence at 1 pm. Following the ceremony, all are welcome to join for a celebration of Rob's life at the Fin and Feather in Winneconne, beginning at 3 pm.

Rob's legacy is one of love, adventure, and an unyielding spirit. His memory will forever be a beacon of joy and strength for all who knew him.

We would like to thank the medical staff at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton for the incredible care that Rob received, as well as friends and family from far and wide who have sent their love.
