Robert E. Williams

September 29, 1943 — September 26, 2025

Oshkosh

Robert "Bobby" E. Williams Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully listening to his favorite country tunes on September 25, 2025, 3 days before his 82nd birthday, at Aurora Medical center.

Bobby was born on September 29, 1943, son of the late Robert Williams Sr. and Frances (Matson) Mientke-Williams. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961. Bobby's first job was setting pins at Ralph Lanes and AC Duce. He held various jobs throughout his life, including Victorlight Candle Co., Mavel Equipment Co., and Stelzner Manufacturing, where he retired from after 30 years. His favorite and most notable job was roofing with Bob Williams Roofing and Siding. Bobby met his soon to be wife, Gwen Peters, on a blind double date on December 1st, 1962, that was set up by her cousin/sister, Lynn. His sense of humor reeled her in. Bobby and Gwen were married by the following September 29, 1963.

Bobby was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put everyone before himself. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially his wife and daughters, Michelle and Tammy (his little girls). They were always welcome and he always sent them off saying, "If you can't sleep, come on back." Although he hated flying, he enjoyed a good adventure. Some of his favorite adventures were out west to Arizona, Las Vegas, and Mexico. He was even convinced to take a cruise to Alaska. He enjoyed his annual trips to Door County for the past 10 years.

In his younger years, he enjoyed goose and deer hunting, fishing, and trap shooting at the local trap club, Fox Valley Trap. In his more recent years he enjoyed playing Yahtzee with his family and watching the Game Show Network with his wife and cats. He looked forward to going to Wedgewood every Thursday to spend time with his close friends.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 62 years (just shy of 62 years by 3 days), Gwen Williams; daughters, Michelle (Douglas) Nigl and Tammy (William) Norton; grandchildren, Tashia (Jacob) Johnson, Krissy (fiancé, Luke Micalski) Bill (Rie) Norton, Josh (Yuta) Nigl, Jake Nigl, and Jay Nigl; great-grandchildren, Lily, Emily, and Mina Norton, Bray Wright, Madisen Frank, Jackson Micalski; sister, Joyce (William) Freiberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James (Nancy) Mientkel; sister, Donna (Arleigh) Schroder; sister-in-law, Shirely (David, Boots) Staerkel.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Medical Center, who were very accommodating. As well as to Tracy, Lyle, and Wayne at Wedgewood for always making sure Bobby was well taken care of.
