Ruth Vorpahl

Ruth A. Vorpahl passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025. Ruth was born in Beaver Dam Wisconsin, and grew up in Hobart Indiana.

She received a BA Degree from Augustana College in Rock Island Illinois and a MS Degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Ruth taught Business Education at Hobart High School in Hobart Indiana and taught 35 years at Oshkosh North & West High Schools (Oshkosh Wisconsin) and she became Head of the Business Education Department at North High School.

Ruth was on the Miss Wisconsin Pageant Board of Directors for 48 years and was the Traveling Companion to Miss Wisconsin for 10 years.

She was an avid Packer, Brewer, and Badger fan and she loved to play cards (especially bridge).

Ruth was a member of AAUW, Altrusa, Delta PI Epsilon, Women's Fund Community Foundation, Twentieth Century, Friends of Cerebral Palsy, Oshkosh Women's Association, and Peace Lutheran Church. She also volunteered at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh and took pride in helping with the B-52 bomber tours.

Preceded in death by her parents Victoria and Lester Vorpahl, her sister Dorothy (Pat) Schlageter, and her brother-in-law George Schlageter.

She is survived by her nephew Tom Schlageter and niece Diane Schlageter, five great nieces Leah Schlageter, Madeline Schlageter, Olivia Schlageter, Bailey Wineland, Sierra Wineland, and one great nephew Bradley Wineland.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W 9th Ave, Oshkosh, beginning at 12:00 p.m., A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
