Shirley Ann Peters

Shirley Ann Peters, age 91, of Oshkosh, WI passed away as she lived, surrounded by the love of her family, on August 20th, 2026 at Ascension Mercy Hospital. Shirley was born on December 14th, 1934, daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Gehring) Luker, in Oshkosh, WI.

In high school, Shirley was noticed by the star of the football team, Clint Peters. The rest was history. From high school sweethearts, to a proposal in the balcony of the Time Theater, the two stuck together through thick and thin for 66 years until Clint passed in 2019. She missed him terribly and made it to heaven in time to celebrate their anniversary on August 28th. Shirley raised 8 children.

She was the original feminist, despite living a relatively "traditional" life. She made sure her daughters had opportunities for education, career, and family. She made our home an inviting place to be, with large Christmas celebrations, Thanksgivings with the best stuffing and apple pie, and hot cocoa and baked treats for sleepovers. She celebrated every moment she could with her family and often worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was taken care of. Shirley was feisty, opinionated, and spunky. She loved being well dressed with as much glitz and glam as she could get her hands on. Even though Clint usually received the accolades for his career, Shirley silently supported him every step of the way. For her, the real trophy was her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Debra Peters, Pamela (Lyle) Doberstein, Clinton Jr. (Carrie) Peters, Thomas (Jane) Peters, Randall Peters, Penne (Leon) Koch, Lance Peters, and Jule (Kelly) Cavanaugh. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, Dawn (Jayson) Cisler, Cass (Lisa) Shimanek, Gavin (Theresa) Shimanek, Derek Kohlbeck, Amanda (Bryant) Czerniewski, Prudence Cavanaugh, Trevor Peters, Laura Peters, Caeden Peters, Randall Peters Jr., Brianna (Grayson) Zwingelberg, Nicola Peters, and Sarah Peters; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and her beloved "little brother", Tom (Marge) Luker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint; and her big brother and protector, Leon (Ann Marie) Luker.

A private graveside service for Shirley will be held at New Elm Cemetery in Black Wolf, WI on September 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
