Steven L. Nachtrab, age 75 of Van Dyne, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on June 1, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1950, to the late Marvin and Evelyn (Basler) Nachtrab. Steven was an Oshkosh West graduate class of 1969, he was united in marriage to Donna Bratton on May 18, 1974, at the Westfield Methodist Church.
Steve was a dairy farmer, a mechanic at Chief Equipment in Oshkosh, a truck driver for 20 years at Service Motor Company in Fond du Lac, a semi driver for John Welch Farms and since he could not sit still in retirement, he drove parts delivery for O'Reillys in Fond du Lac.
Steven had a passion for antiquing, you could often find him at flea markets and auctions. He was also an avid hunter, nothing was safe around him, especially deer! He cherished the great outdoors, enjoyed camping and had a special talent for driving Donna a little crazy from time to time. Steve always made time for tinkering, he could fix just about anything!
Let’s not forget his love for animals was amazing. Dogs were his favorite, but he would always be feeding the stray/barn cats and kittens on the sly. Steve pushed every year for a garden, whether it was large or small and made sure corn was planted every year. No one was allowed to plant that but him, he had a way with growing things.
Steve was always generous in helping his friends and neighbors. He bowled for numerous years at Brenner's Bowl (Generations) in Eldorado with Donna as his partner. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He will be missed dearly by all.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Nachtrab; children, Sherri (Ellis Keele) Nachtrab, Diana Nachtrab and Michelle (Jeffrey) Maki; grandchildren, Danica (Zachery) Oler, Ariana (Lucius) Kokopelli, Elexis (Nick) Boyle, Treston Nachtrab (Avery), Christian, Nicholas, Cheyanne, Amaryllis, and Camden Maki; great-grandchildren, Micheal, Emma, Dalton, Brennon, Jaysin Ray, Kareena, and Demetrius; brother, Merlin (Rosie) Nachtrab; in-laws, Gloria (Mike) Carow, Shirley Coomer, Patricia (Steve) Pulver and Barbara (Scott) Starkey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Marvin and Evelyn Nachtrab, he was preceded in death by his father-and-mother-in-law, Don and Virginia Bratton; brother-in-law Mike Kujawa and nephew Chris Kujawa.
A funeral service for Steven will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside, located at 402 Waugoo Ave. Oshkosh, WI. Rev. Karyn Michaels will be officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Our family is deeply grateful to the NFDL Paramedics, Eldorado First Responders, and the FDL Sherrif's Department for all you did.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
