Terrell W. Tomason, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center. He was born to the late Garry and Jewel (Alexander) Tomason on September 8, 1950, in Oakland, CA. Terrell joined the United States Navy in 1968, faithfully serving his country in Vietnam; being stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin. He was later restationed in Coos Bay where he was placed in charge of the maintenance of the entire base. After being honorably discharged he went on to become a Baptist Minister for many years, he was very proud of his time as a minister
Terrell graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He worked as a Forensic Pathologist for the State of Oregon, where they filmed "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" while he was working there. Eventually going back to school for his Social Work Degree, transitioning into his position as a social worker for the State of Oregon. Terrell moved to Wisconsin where he took up a position as a probation and parole officer with the state of Wisconsin, where through his hard work and dedication to his career as well as believing in second chances, he was able to help a lot of parolees turn their lives around. He also taught terrorist and hostage negotiations to various law enforcement agencies.
He married Jane Wiske on February 12, 2004, in Oshkosh at the South Side Yacht Club where they met.
Terrell loved being on the water and being on boats, especially sailing. He was an excellent cook and a professional BBQ Grill master, even traveling to Memphis, TN to compete in the World BBQ Championships winning an award for his Georgia Peach Lime Sauce. Terrell enjoyed traveling with Jane to many places, including Mexico, New Orleans, and San Antonio as well as many more wonderful places.
Terrell is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Janelle (Jay) Osborne; sons, Jeff (Letricia) Aaron (Kara), Sean (Chelsea Donoghue) Tomason; step-son, Ryan (Sara), & Davis (Tia) Thuecks; sister, Brenda (Kevin) Shaw; grandchildren, Derick, Brenden, Tyhiya, Cassiopeia, Rory, Ashton, Gage, Allie, Caleb, Seth, Avery, Liam, Ethan, Lincoln, Emmalyn; as well as 9 great-grandchildren. Terrell is further survived by his beloved canine companion, Chloe
In addition to his parents, Terrell was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis, Larry, Garry, John, infant brother-Duane; as well as his canine companion Captain
A memorial service for Terrell will be held at Lake View Memorial Park- Chapel (2786 Algoma Blvd) on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 12PM. A time of visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be donated to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora for the loving care they gave to Terrell.
