Theodore "Steve" Stephen Herman

October 7, 1946 — October 6, 2025

Omro

Theodore Stephen Herman, aged 78, peacefully passed on Monday, October 6, 2025, at his home in Omro with family by his side.

Steve was born on October 7, 1946, in Appleton to Theodore and Evelyn (Erdman) Herman. He grew up in Oshkosh, where he met his childhood friends he was so fond of and loved playing baseball with.

Steve graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1964. He then went on to UW-Oshkosh, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1970 and completed graduate work.

In between his college years, Steve joined the Army in 1966 as a Medical Corpsman and served until honorably discharged in 1968.

Steve was married to Lori Ann Herman on June 16, 1984, at First Baptist Temple in Oshkosh, with Pastor Denis Cronkright officiating. They were married for 41 years and had three beautiful children, who Steve was so proud of.

Steve worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He started as a mail carrier and then retired in 2009 after serving as a supervisor in Menasha and Neenah.

Steve trusted Jesus as his Savior on May 19, 1981, and served in his local church for many years. He was a devoted Sunday School and Bible teacher and a talented piano player. Steve had a giving heart and loved using his gifts of teaching and music for the Lord.

Besides his passion for music, Steve loved playing cribbage and card games with his family and competitive bowling and pool with his friends.

Remaining to cherish Steve’s memory are his spouse, Lori Herman; daughter, Alyssa (Zach) Herman; son, Alex (Kasey) Herman and grandchild, Tiberius Herman; son, Andrew (Emilie) Herman; sister, Lynn Perry; in-laws Vern and Mary DeWitt; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close family friends, Jim and Chris Morrison.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 12:00-1:30pm at Oakbrook Evangelical Free Church in Oshkosh. Funeral services will also be held at Oakbrook Church immediately following visitation at 1:30pm, with Pastor Alex Herman officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00pm at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Oshkosh.
