Verona Alma Nelson

April 30, 1914 — October 28, 2005

Verona A. (Lovejoy) Nelson Verona A. Nelson, age 91, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2005. She was born on April 30, 1914 in Bloomfield, Waushara County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Alma (Marquardt) Lovejoy. Verona married Earl A. Nelson on March 22, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa with Rev. H.E. Dieter joining them in marriage at St. Peters Lutheran Church. She spent her early years in Dale, Wisconsin, boarded at a home in Appleton until her graduation from High School and then attended Oshkosh Teachers College for one year in 1931-32. Verona went on to teach at the (one room) Island Dale School, Shiocton School and Utica Center. At 51 years of age she received her Degree in Education and taught at Merrill Elementary School until her retirement. Verona enjoyed Bible study, reading, lunch with her friends and a good joke. She loved spending time with her daughters and their husbands, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family, positive attitude, sense of humor, devotion to her Christian Faith, and generosity. Her smile, laugh and love will be missed by all. Verona is survived by her two daughters, Colleen (Robert) Schroeder, Bonnie (Dale) Monsour of Oshkosh, five grandchildren, Michael Monsour, Jason Schroeder, Matthew Monsour, Chris Schroeder and Jenny Schroeder, four great grandchildren Michael J. Monsour, Amalia Monsour, Benjamin Knoblock and Colin Knoblock. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, one sister Betty Lovejoy, stepfather Milo Gore, grandparents John and Amelia (Fisher) Marquardt, Ed and Mary (Dickie) Lovejoy, great-grandparents John and Caroline (Beyer) Marquardt, Jasper and Margaret (Dagle) Lovejoy, William and Margaret (Madigan) Dickie, great-great-grandparents Lathrop and Kezia (Manning) Lovejoy, Lewis and Mary(Brior) Dagle, great-great-great-grandparents Nehemiah and Thankful (Hunter) Lovejoy, John and Kezia (Lattin) Manning, great-great-great-great-grandparents William and Mary Hunter, Richard and Kezia (Seeley) Lattin. We wish to thank Dr. Boccheciamp. He always listened and treated her health and personal issues with respect allowing her to share concerns and thoughts. Also, a thank you must be expressed to the staff at Gabriels Villa. You addressed her health issues, gave her smiles, shared her sense of humor and helped her live with dignity. Funeral services for Verona will be held at the Konrad Behlman Funeral Home - West, at Lake Pointe Drive and Witzel Avenue on Tuesday November 01, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
