Well, done, good and faithful servant. Virginia “Ginny” (Garbe) Evans, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, ended her journey on Earth on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was 93 years old.
Ginny was born in Oshkosh, where she did all of her schooling, including graduating with a degree in primary education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She lived in a variety of places along her journey, including Shorewood and West Allis, Wisconsin, Okemos, Michigan, and Honolulu, Hawaii, before settling back in Oshkosh.
On June 19, 1954, she married her soulmate John Evans and celebrated 70 years together last June. They have two children, William (Bill) and Ann.
Ginny had a great love of gardening and flowers, even creating a mini business, making dried flower arrangements and wreaths. She especially loved living at their “country” house on Nekimi and having her own shop to arrange flowers in. She also had a love of entertaining and cooking, which she graciously welcomed anyone to the table. She and John belonged to a gourmet club, she cooked many meals at church. Everyone always raved about her delicious meals, especially her family’s favorite meal “chicken and noodles”. Ginny also had a vast love of traveling, enjoying trips all over the world with her husband. Ginny also prioritized family time with her children and grandchildren. Her love of family also included the love of pets, including many dogs and cats over the years. When Ginny wasn’t busy in the garden, or the kitchen, or traveling, she loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She always kept up on current events by watching several TV channels daily.
