Oshkosh

William “Bill” F. Koltz passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 73. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born on January 21, 1952, to Fritz and Dorothy Koltz, Bill grew up with a lifelong curiosity for how the world works.

A lifelong ham radio operator, Bill found joy and connection through the airwaves as KA9HDN and later N9WK, forming friendships that spanned towns, states, and even continents. He also cherished the companionship of his dogs, Rizzo and Meili, who were faithfully by his side.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz Koltz; his mother, Dorothy Koltz; and his stepmother, Lillian Koltz. He was also preceded in death by his former spouses, Evelyn Louise Koltz and Pat Koltz. Bill is survived by his loving children: Christine Koltz, Catherine Koltz (Tim Ryan), and Kimberly (Steve Spanhook); his stepchildren: Dawn Floyd and Corey Janke; and his granddaughter, Kaysie Spanhook. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn (John Swanson) and was a proud uncle to Monica Swanson (Jason Jaskulski) and Johnny Swanson.

Though his radio is silent, the friendships and connections he made throughout his life in person and over the airwaves will continue to resonate across every mile he ever reached his call signs may no longer be heard, but the bonds he formed will never fade from memory.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes

402 Waugoo Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54901.
