William "Bill" Sager

December 24, 1934 — August 19, 2025

William "Bill" Herbert Sager passed away peacefully at The Courtyard in Oshkosh. Born on December 24, 1934, in Oshkosh to Harriet (Wright) Sager and Herbert Sager. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1954. Bill lived a life marked by hard work, family connection, and a good sense of humor.

He was employed by Paine Lumber, Dunphy Boat Company, and Oshkosh Door Company where he retired, and proudly served in the National Guard. Bill shared a special bond with his mother, Harriet, and together they enjoyed their camper on Pearl Lake in Red Granite. He remained in his childhood home, living independently until recently.

Bill found joy in simple hobbies - bowling, ice fishing, tending to his garden, and cheering on the Brewers and Packers. He had a fondness for cats and cherished spending holidays with his family. Always quick with a smile, Bill's hearty appetite, gentle chuckle and warmth brightened family gatherings.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved aunts and uncles; his sister, Suzanne (Sager) Schneider and brother-in-law, James Schneider. He is survived by his sister, Carole (Sager) Steinert, and brother-in-law, Kenley Steinert, along with his nieces and nephews Lori (Bob) Lohry, Peter (Julie) Steinert, Todd (Lori) Schneider, and Diane Schneider; great-nieces and nephews Sarah (Jeremy) Wise, Matthew (Laura) Lohry, Benjamin (Nicole) Steinert, and Christian Steinert; and great-great-niece and nephews Wyatt and Emma Wise and Damian Nitz Lohry.

He will be remembered with love, gratitude, and fond memories by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the caregivers of both The Courtyard at Oshkosh Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice.

There will be a private graveside service at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
